Residential Alteration Project

— Scope

An architectural alteration of a large two-storey French Colonial home in Sumner. A complete remodel and refurbishment of the interior including kitchen, dining, lounge and the addition of two new bathrooms.

A modernisation with the inclusion of some automation and under the directorship of local Sumner architect Ben Brady of Line Type Architectural Design.

— Action

Titan Electrical set about planning and designating a team for the six-month-long project. The fact the owners would still be living in the home throughout the renovation was the first challenge and required Titan Electrical to work section by section.

Unique features of this refurbishment include:

  • The installation of a backup generator, so a portion of the house could still operate during a power outage.
  • A cast-iron spiral staircase with stainless steel handrail and  lighting
  • LED strip lighting in the tiled showers

This modern upgrade involved a certain amount of automation, which Titan Electrical also undertook.

— Result

At the completion of this 300 sq metre home renovation, the owners were “absolutely rapt” with the outcome, Robert Neale says.  It was a stunning new overhaul and the home was a regional winner in the Architectural Designers of New Zealand Awards in 2019.
